As our student numbers increase and we continue to diversify our programmes and portfolio, we are looking for high-calibre individual to join our Psychology Lab as a Psychology Technician based at our London Bloomsbury campus. 

As our Psychology Technician you will provide the highest quality, multi-specialist technical expertise and support to students, staff and external partners for teaching related activities.  Serving as a primary source of expertise when demonstrating the safe use of specialist psychological equipment, software and techniques to students and staff.

The role requires previous experience working as a Psychology Technician in either a HE or FE environment.

As our Psychology Technician, you will:

  • Lead on general management and housekeeping of laboratories
  • Be responsible for the maintenance of, and arranging repair of, equipment in the experimental laboratory facilities and research suites
  • Provide specialist training for up-skilling of members of the technical team, other staff and students as required.
  • Lead on high-level support projects for both student projects and staff research including advice and training on experimental design, creating materials and interpreting data.
  • Work co-operatively with fellow business professionals and lecturers to encourage good working relationships and maintain high levels of support and delivery.

We are looking for people who are/have:

  • BSc (Hons) degree in Psychology or related discipline
  • Experience of working as a Psychology Technician in HE or FE environment
  • Ability to provide specialist advice and assistance to students and staff to include; demonstrating the use of equipment, statistical and experimental packages
  • Knowledge of health and safety at work practices and legal requirements
  • Familiarity with statistical and Psychological experimental design packages – SPSS, NVivo, E-Prime, Matlab, Superlab, Qualtrics. Psychology experiment builders, such as PsychoPy and/or Gorilla
  • Any experience in supporting teaching would be desirable.
