The University of Hull has adopted a new professional service delivery model following extensive consultation with stakeholders from across the University and an exciting opportunity is now available within Academic Services for a specialist wellbeing advisor to deliver support to students who are experiencing challenges with their psychological wellbeing.

Working as part of our Mental Health & Wellbeing team, the primary focus of this role will be the provision of one to one non-urgent high-quality psychological interventions and case-co-ordination for students who are experiencing psychological or emotional distress or poor wellbeing. We are seeking compassionate individuals with significant demonstrable experience of delivering psychological & wellbeing interventions to adults or young adults. The post holder will maintain a case load as well as offering single session or short-term interventions to address a range of presenting needs for example worry and anxiety, exam stress, low mood, sleep, workload management and procrastination. The post holder will have the ability to work with a diverse range of students including those who are neuro-diverse and those from underrepresented groups. 

A sound understanding of the drivers of psychological distress and poor wellbeing alongside the ability to deliver evidence-based psycho-education and interventions for a range of wellbeing needs to a diverse range of students is critical. Knowledge or experience of working with students or within a higher education setting is advantageous. The post holder must be able to assess needs & plan, deliver and evaluate sessions with clear goals and outcomes which meet the holistic needs of the student

We are seeking individuals with a professional qualification or evidence of relevant training & experience in a field relating to mental health, coaching, social prescribing or psychological intervention. Excellent communication skills, a high level of motivation and adaptability, a compassionate and proactive approach and a willingness to work collaboratively with others is essential to this post.

Opportunities are available for hybrid working however, weekly on campus presence will be necessary for clinical work and supervision.
