About us

UCL Computer Science was ranked top in England for computer science in the Research Excellence Framework in 2021, and second in the UK. We are a large department with over 500 staff, made up of academic, teaching, research and professional staff.

We are an experimental department and computer science sits at the nexus of a broad range of interdisciplinary collaborations across UCL. We are now recruiting Lecturer and Associate Professor positions to support our developing education portfolio in Robotics &; AI, based in our new UCL East Campus.

Our vision for Robotics at UCL East is to set up a new robotics powerhouse at UCL. To support our vision, over the next few years, we will be hiring more than 20 academic, research and teaching staff in Robotics and AI. These advertised positions are part of this strategy.

About the role

The main purpose of this new role is to support the growth of the Computer Science Department and the Robotics & AI area through conducting research, teaching, outreach, and entrepreneurial activities in areas related to robotics and AI. The role also encompasses being a mentor and a point of contact for emerging talent and support the EDI activities in the department.

Areas that we aim at covering include but are not limited to: AI and Machine Learning, with interest to ground, aerial, and marine robots.

About you

You should have a PhD in Robotics, AI, or a closely related field and be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding across a range of core topics including robotics, control, machine learning, sensor fusion, and other topics related to real-world deployment of robotic systems.

Appointment at Associate Professor Level will be dependent on experience, research output and evidence of meeting additional essential criteria required for the role.

Lecturer Grade 8 - £51,474 to £60,521 including London Allowance

Associate Professor Grade 9 - £65,698 to £71,357 including London Allowance
