We are looking for an experienced team member from a Health or Social Care background to join our Student Wellbeing Service where you will work alongside the Head of Service and an existing Assistant Head of service.

You will provide leadership, support and continual improvements to a non-clinical wellbeing service which works proactively with students struggling with their mental health or wellbeing and are having difficulty engaging with the range of wellbeing service provided through the University and external services. 

You will be enthusiastic, motivated, empathetic with extensive relevant experience in leading a team supporting people with mental health and wellbeing related concerns. 

The Opportunity:

A fantastic opportunity to support students to fully participate and succeed in their chosen courses of study, working closely with university academic and support staff and external agencies as required. You will lead a non-clinical team of Wellbeing Advisers who proactively work with students identified as having difficulty engaging with their studies due to mental health or wellbeing issues to ensure they are connected to the right support both academically and for their wellbeing

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Educated to degree level
  • Relevant professional qualification in health and social care (e.g. nursing, social work, psychology, occupational therapy)
  • Prior experience of supporting people with welfare issues, preferably in Higher education context.  
  • Experience with working with a range of mental health issues
  • An understanding of the pressures of the academic environment for students with disabilities and/or additional support needs
  • Experience in developing new services
  • Extensive experience in managing Health or Social Care services and people
