This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious graduate postdoctoral research scientist with the ability and confidence to carry out research on a state-of-the-art engineering biology research project involving world leading collaborators in University College London (UCL) and The University of Edinburgh.
The University of Manchester is looking to recruit an Engineering Biology Scientist to undertake a 24 month project to enable the directed evolution of chloroplast genes in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. The work will enable the successful candidate to build on breakthrough research to increase mutation rate in chloroplasts. The project will involve designing, building and testing error-prone DNA polymerases in bacteria before introducing them into Chlamydomonas reinhardtii chloroplasts using recombinant DNA methods and transgenic technologies.
This post is funded through a UKRI BBSRC Engineering Biology Mission Award, a UK Government scheme to support world leading Research in Engineering Biology.
