An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Support Officer to work in support of large and/or strategic research grants awarded to The Royal Veterinary College (RVC) by a range of funders including UKRI, the European Commission, NIH. Working as part of an existing team, the role-holder will provide dedicated and specialist support across the post-award life-cycle for a discrete portfolio of complex, strategic or otherwise complex grants and contracts, as well as working closely with the Head of Research Grants Management in assuming responsibility for a portfolio of legacy post-award projects.
The post-holder will be part of a small team in the Research and Innovation Office (RIO), which supports the delivery and financial management of a variety of externally funded projects. The team ensures the smooth running of RVC’s portfolio of sponsored research and externally funded innovation activities, so as to build the College’s reputation as a partner of choice for research in veterinary medicine and comparative biological science. This role necessitates close working with academic staff at RVC, to build trust and deeper understanding of their projects.
The post holder will also work closely with other colleagues in RIO, and Professional Services teams elsewhere in the College, e.g. Finance, Human Resources and Academic Departments in order to agree approaches or solutions and will require the ability to develop and maintain systems to record decisions and outcomes.
This is a critical role that requires strong communication skills, plenty of personal initiative, critical thinking, strong organisational skills, and the ability to provide specialist advice and guidance relating to the sound financial management of projects.
This post is available as a fixed term contract or secondment opportunity, and is open to requests for flexible working and/or part-time working.
We offer a generous reward package including:
Competitive and attractive pension package
Hybrid working is available for this post on successful completion of the probationary period.
