About the Role
This post will be working within the Centre for Neuroscience Trauma and Surgery at the Blizard Institute. The post-holder will be responsible for providing administrative, budgetary and secretarial support to the Centre Lead and Centre Manager and other assigned members of staff in their execution of Centre-related tasks, and assisting in the planning and organisation of the centre’s activities. This role will involve the planning, coordination and organisation of the centre’s activities, including administering HR and Finance processes, providing support for research-related activity and maintaining a supportive environment for staff and students. The post-holder must be able to work independently and to deputise for the Centre Manager in their absence.
About You
You will have a degree or equivalent vocational experience. You will have excellent organisational skills and interpersonal skills; be able to prioritise a varied workload and plan ahead to meet deadlines, with minimal supervision. Experience of working within Higher Education or the NHS is desirable. You will have excellent team working skills, enjoy and thrive working in a busy environment and take a proactive approach in your work. Having experience in finance and/or HR will be an advantage, but is not essential.
About the School/Department/Institute/Project
The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is one of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises approximately 360 staff based in four academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre, and supports a combined total of c700 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.
