The University of Hertfordshire is looking to recruit an experienced IT professional to configure and support our portfolio of research information systems. This is an exciting new opportunity, created in response to growth in UH research activity and in the systems that facilitate, manage, and disseminate our work. The successful candidate will contribute to research excellence by becoming the in-house expert for these cloud-based applications, and the bridge between researchers, research administrators and vendors.

Main duties and responsibilities

Working collaboratively with colleagues in the Research and Scholarly Communications team, and liaising with LCS Operations and Development teams, you will assist with the configuration, support and management of research information systems to meet University 24/7 'anytime, anywhere' service requirements. You will offer third-line support and work with vendors on new installations, upgrades, and implementations. You will be expected to develop an awareness and experience of the systems, technologies, standards, and protocols used by research information systems.

Skills and experience required

The successful candidate must have demonstrable practical experience across a range of appropriate technologies, including several from: Software as a Service (SaaS)/Enterprise application/Research Information systems configuration; webservices and APIs; data transformation; good practice in process documentation and testing regimes. We expect a high level of communication and advocacy skills, and the ability to engage successfully with a range of stakeholders and system vendors to achieve optimal service levels.

Experience of library or research systems, data structures and processes in a Higher Education environment would be desirable.

Qualifications required

You will hold a minimum of an Honours Degree or equivalent level qualification or equivalent expertise and experience at an appropriate level. A current relevant professional certification in Information Technology or Library Technology would be desirable.

Please view the job description and person specification for a full list of the duties and essential criteria. Please attach a personal statement showing clearly how your skills and experience match the Person Specification.
