ABOUT THE ROLE
The Department of Chemical Engineering delivers internationally excellent and world-leading research in advanced solutions for sustainable resources, processes and materials, also addressing energy applications, such as green energy generation, energy storage, and decarbonisation. The primary emphasis for the appointed postholder will be on achieving research excellence, producing world-leading publications, securing competitive funding, and creating real-world impact. We invite applications from highly enthusiastic candidates with strong research expertise in the areas of sustainable resources, circularity, and energy storage to advance the fields of Net Zero Technologies.
We are keen for the candidates to build upon our current departmental expertise in batteries, biorefinery, and decarbonisation, also involving interdisciplinary approaches in processes (complex fluids, process modelling) and materials (membranes, catalysis, sensors) where applicable. The ideal postholders will have a strong track record both at the national and international levels and will succeed in establishing their independent collaborative high-impact research programme. An industry-facing research programme focussing on knowledge transfer and innovation will be looked at favourably. As all our courses are research-led and practice-driven, the successful applicant should be able to bring their background into their teaching to enhance our students’ experience.
EQUALITY, DIVERSITY & INCLUSION
The University is committed to supporting and promoting equality and diversity in all its practices and activities. We aim to establish an inclusive environment and welcome diverse applications from the following protected characteristics: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race (including colour, nationality, ethnic and national origin), religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation.
We have an under-representation of women in the area of academia and would particularly welcome applications from women for this position. We also have an under representation of individuals from ethnic minority backgrounds and would encourage applications from these groups. Appointments will always be made on merit.
As an inclusive and welcoming workplace, we value people for their skills regardless of their background. Applications are welcome in Welsh and will not be treated less favourably than those submitted in English.
