There is an exciting new opportunity for a Project Manager to manage, coordinate and support the delivery of complex projects for the newly established Engineering Biology Hub.
The role holder will play a key role in the shaping of the project, including agreeing scope, oversight, ownership and roles; ensuring close strategic alignment and effectively consulting with key stakeholders to achieve this.
The Project Manager will support the establishment of the Engineering Biology Mission Hub for Environmental Processing and Recovery of Metals, bringing together specialists from various UK institutions to establish an open knowledge hub focused on bio-extraction and bio-recovery of metals. This Hub is intended to launch in early Spring 2024 to connect researchers, industry and policymakers, to collaboratively pursue shared research priorities that will develop strategies for improved metal recovery and address social, economic, and environmental challenges.
As Project Manager you can expect to get involved in:
- Effectively managing all aspects of the project from inception to delivery, developing an integrated project
- Manage and coordinate project activities including the supervision of other Professional Services staff, as well as monitoring and recording the progress of multiple workstreams delivering against Hub objectives according to deadlines and within budget.
- Identify, monitor and proactively manage project risks and issues through a defined risk management process to ensure strategic and operational risks and issues are identified
- Lead on the project communication activities and stakeholder engagement, which includes, communicating directly with the Hub’s funders, UKRI (BBSRC), to coordinate and collate reports to meet financial and progress reporting requirements.
What we are looking for in the right candidate:
- Recognised Project Management qualification (eg PRINCE 2, APM) OR substantial project management experience in a similar role
- Substantial experience of key project delivery activities such as risk management, stakeholder management, planning, budget management, change management, etc.
- Experience of managing and successfully delivering complex and/or large projects to time, cost, quality and benefit realisation requirements
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage a variety of tasks simultaneously, and to organise and prioritise own work and that of others in order to meet project milestones
