Reporting to the Director of Legal & Compliance Services and University Solicitor, and working closely with both of the Senior Solicitors, you will be based at the University’s College Lane campus and will work closely with the Business Development and Research teams.
The Contracts Officer will be part of the Legal and Compliance Services team and will be situated within the Office of the Vice-Chancellor. The work will primarily focus on research and consultancy contracts, supporting our academic and non-academic colleagues in the University.
Main duties and responsibilities:
The post involves providing a full range of commercial law services involving advice, negotiation and drafting contracts for a wide variety of areas. You will assist with all aspects of the University’s contracts support service, which supports academic and research staff with contracting matters related to research, commercial or academic engagement with external bodies.
Experience and skills require:
Experience in drafting and negotiating contracts is essential. You will have excellent communication skills, allowing you to work effectively with key individuals internally and externally. Innovative and resourceful, pragmatic and commercially aware, you will have experience either in the private or public sector to fulfil the demands of the role. The role requires accuracy, attention to detail, and commitment to seeing a job through to completion.
Qualifications required:
Holds a minimum of a Degree or equivalent in a relevant topic (Law), or proven experience. An LPC qualification (or equivalent level qualification) is desirable.
