The Department of Computing is seeking an MSc Programme Officer to cover a maternity leave. The Department offers a range of MSc core, advanced and specialist one-year degree courses, with an annual intake of around 225 students. As part of the Teaching Support Team, the MSc Programme Officer provides full support for the Department’s MSc admissions and examination processes.
Duties include managing the coordination of all MSc applications, reviewing admissions documentation and following up with applicants where necessary. You will also be required to make informed recommendations on applications to the admissions tutors. You will maintain admissions records, working with the College Registry to ensure accurate and up-to-date information. You will be expected to plan and manage MSc open days, interviews and enrolment, as well as respond to enquiries and provide advice to potential candidates and applicants.
You will provide support for MSc and Undergraduate examinations assisting the Examinations Officer with the day-to-day running of the examinations process. You will have responsibility for the secure distribution of draft exam papers to/from academics and external examiners, printing exam papers, booking exam rooms and setting them up ready for exams. You will assign and train invigilators, ensuring their timely arrival at exams. You will also organise the MSc examiners’ meetings, collating all relevant exam material, ensuring safe storage and secure disposal of examination scripts as required.
Acting as the main point of contact for the Department’s MSc courses, you will respond to queries from students, staff and other internal and external queries, signposting and providing advice. You will also provide support and backup for the Undergraduate Programme Officer.
