Acute Internal Medicine is one of the newest medical specialities and includes the provision of assessments, diagnoses and treatments of adult patients with urgent medical needs. The University of Birmingham offers the only multidisciplinary academic training programme in acute medicine nationally. The Acute Medicine Research Group is led by Professor Sapey, the current Chair of the Society for Acute Medicine Research Committee. The candidate would be joining a diverse group of acute medicine researchers at different levels of seniority and from different healthcare professional backgrounds, including a Clinical Assistant Professor, two statistical postdoctoral scientists, 10 informaticians and a number of PhD students including those from medical, nursing, physician associate and pharmacy backgrounds. The group also benefits from a wide acute medicine network from across the UK and Europe.
