Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Imperial College London for an enthusiastic individual to join the Postgraduate Education Team in the Faculty of Medicine (FoM). The team is based in the Faculty Education Office (Medicine) and supports activity related to postgraduate programmes offered across FoM departments, comprising of PhDs, Masters, Diplomas, Certificates, short courses, CPD programmes, and the Summer School.

Duties and responsibilities

The Postgraduate Education Administrator will join a busy central team that supports the academic leads and the Postgraduate Education Manager across Faculty postgraduate education activities. The post holder will have particular responsibility to project manage the On Campus Summer School; Revolutions in Biomedicine.

You will lead in managing the Faculty Postgraduate Taught Staff-Student Liaison Committee, and support Faculty level online and in person events for our postgraduate students.

The post would suit an experienced, enthusiastic and self-motivated administrator seeking to further their career in this stimulating role in higher education. The ability to work independently, managing a busy workload with competing priorities to tight deadlines is essential, as is attention to detail and accuracy. The post holder must have a highly professional approach to their work and possess excellent organisational and communication skills

The Postgraduate Education Administrator will be located at the South Kensington Campus, but will work on other campuses on occasions, as the Faculty Education Office has staff based across four campuses.

Essential requirements:

  • Educated to Degree level, or equivalent relevant experience in a similar or related role(s), demonstrating development through a series of progressively more demanding work/roles.
  • The role requires proactive and independent working practices to establish effective working relationships with colleagues in the Faculty’s departments as well as networking across College.
  • Strong operational knowledge of some areas relating to this role.
  • High level of expertise in using MS Office packages (Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project, Outlook and Word).
  • Capacity to navigate difficult situations and conflicting views with tact and diplomacy, while having patience to complete tasks thoroughly and achieve necessary outcomes.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a larger team in a large and complex organisation, working collaboratively with colleagues, displaying a professional attitude at all times.
  • Excellent communication skills.

This is a full time, open-ended contract based at South Kensington Campus with travel expected to other campuses.
