Birkbeck, University of London, is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher, within the Centre for Brain and Cognitive Development (CBCD), to play a key role in delivering two projects.

The CBCD is at the forefront of research in brain and psychological development, making it an ideal place for individuals passionate about neurodevelopmental conditions.

The first project is a Leverhulme funded research project investigating the emergence of brain-to-brain synchrony during preschoolers’ collaborative problem solving.

The second project (also funded by Leverhulme Trust) investigates the link between physical experience and cognition in older children with ADHD (7- to 10-year-old).

As Postdoctoral Researcher, you will have:

  • experience of running research within a university lab setting as well as experience in using developmental experimental methods - including knowledge of behavioural and/or neuroimaging experimental testing, and analytical and statistical methods to analyse behavioural data.
  • Experience in other methods and programming skills (e.g., Matlab/R/Python) would be an advantage.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communications, attention to detail, and good numeracy skills.
  • Willingness to work flexibly including weekends and school holidays due to the availability of participant groups.

You will be working as part of the world-first ToddlerLab team at the Centre for Brain and Cognitive Development, (CBCD), Department of Psychological Sciences.

This position will give you the opportunity to engage in continuous professional development by improving or developing experimental skills in a wide range of experimental methods, including behaviour, eye-tracking, motion-tracking, neuroimaging, and virtual reality, in toddlers and school-aged children.

Remuneration

£42,365 rising to £48,424 per annum. The salary, Grade 7, quoted is on the College's London Pay Scale.
