To further strengthen our teaching portfolio, the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Arabic Studies. The post is tenable from September 1st 2024 to June 30th 2027.

The School of Arts, Languages and Cultures (SALC) contains one of the UK’s largest concentrations of high-quality research and teaching in languages and cultures, linguistics, and translation studies. This post in Arabic Studies is a teaching and scholarship position. Applicants must have a relevant PhD and demonstrate the ability to meet flexible curricular and teaching needs and demonstrate capability to contribute organisationally to the wider Departmental community. Experience of curriculum development and developing innovative teaching materials are highly desirable. The successful candidate will be asked to contribute to teaching activities, including undergraduate, and postgraduate programmes, as stipulated by the Head of Department. The candidate must be able to provide course development for new and existing undergraduate and postgraduate taught course units to complement the current teaching portfolio. The post holder is expected to provide high quality teaching. Finally, the post holder will be required to contribute to academic administration and management, appropriate to their career level.
