Exeter CTU is seeking an ambitious individual to take a senior leadership role in our growing Clinical Trials Unit; an opportunity to grow, shape and optimise the Unit’s crucial Information Systems and Data Management function. This post is available immediately, on an open-ended basis at 1.0FTE; however, part-time employment (minimum 0.8 FTE) may be considered. Hybrid or remote working patterns may be considered. The core CTU team comprises statisticians and methodologists, trial management staff, quality assurance staff and the Information Systems and Data Management (ISDM) team. CTU staff input at all stages of the trial lifecycle, from trial design and funding application development to reporting and archiving.

The ExeCTU Head of Information Systems and Data Management (ISDM) is responsible for providing high level oversight, leadership and management of the staff and activity in the CTU’s ISDM team, which currently comprises nine members of staff. Through close collaboration with the wider CTU team and trial teams, the ISDM team design, build and test clinical trial-specific data management applications (primarily in REDCap, hosted on AWS servers), and develop and maintain data management processes throughout a trial which serve to maximise the integrity, quality and completeness of the data collected.

The post-holder will have a key leadership and strategic role as part of ExeCTU’s Senior Management Team, providing senior business and data management expertise and input to drive development of innovative and reliable information systems solutions to underpin delivery of the ExeCTU trial portfolio and its overall business operation.

The role requires an extensive understanding of, and senior level expertise in, clinical trial data management practice, the development and maintenance of clinical trial data management applications, and the requirements of computer system validation (CSV) / computer system assurance (CSA) in a Good Clinical Practice (GCP) setting. The role requires excellent communication skills and effective team and project management ability.
