Job Description:

The Provost at UKMC plays a pivotal role in shaping the academic direction and ensuring the overall excellence of the institution. As the chief academic officer, the Provost oversees all academic programs, faculty affairs, and student success initiatives, driving the college’s mission of providing a transformative educational experience. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Academic Leadership: Provide visionary leadership in academic affairs, guiding the development and implementation of innovative programs and initiatives to enhance teaching, learning, and research.
  • Curriculum Development: Collaborate with faculty and academic departments to design and review curricula that meet the highest standards of academic rigor, relevance, and accreditation requirements.
  • Faculty Recruitment and Development: Lead efforts to recruit, retain, and support a diverse faculty of exceptional scholars and educators, fostering a culture of professional growth, mentorship, and academic excellence.
  • Student Success: Champion initiatives to enhance student retention, graduation rates, and overall academic achievement, ensuring a supportive learning environment that promotes student engagement, equity, and inclusion.
  • Budget and Resource Management: Work closely with senior leadership to develop and manage the academic budget, allocating resources strategically to support academic programs, faculty development, and research initiatives.
  • Accreditation and Compliance: Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements, overseeing the preparation of accreditation reports and participating in accreditation reviews as needed.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development and implementation of the university's strategic plan, aligning academic priorities with institutional goals and priorities.
  • Community Engagement: Cultivate partnerships with local communities, businesses, and educational institutions to promote collaboration, innovation, and experiential learning opportunities for students and faculty.
  • Advancement and Fundraising: Collaborate with the advancement team to cultivate relationships with donors, alumni, and funding agencies to secure resources for academic programs, scholarships, and research initiatives.
  • Board Relations: Provide regular updates and reports to the college's board of trustees or governing body on academic matters, initiatives, and achievements. 

Qualifications:

  • An earned doctoral degree or terminal degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution.
  • Substantial experience in academic leadership roles, preferably at the dean level or above.
  • Demonstrated success in curriculum development, faculty management, and student success initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of accreditation standards, regulatory compliance, and higher education policies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills.
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of academic and institutional life.
  • Strategic thinking, visionary leadership, and a track record of fostering innovation and academic excellence.
