Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Fixed-Term/Contract
Placed On: 3rd April 2024

We are seeking to appoint a talented and highly organised research administrator to support a new 3-year study funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, the National partnership to tackle health inequalities in coastal communities. The project will investigate the role of community assets, including arts and culture organisations, in improving health and reducing health inequities, with a focus on three areas of mental health: young people’s mental health and well-being, serious illness and bereavement, and substance misuse. The project brings together three coastal communities: Blackpool, Hastings, and Weston-super-Mare. The post-holder will work alongside the study researcher and the co-lead Dr Barbara Mezes and support all local administrative aspects of the project.

This post is an exciting opportunity for an administrator to support a national project bringing together academics with cross-sector partners and members of the public to improve access to community assets for people experiencing mental health challenges. The research administrator will support the delivery of the project and of the research group, acting as first point of contact, managing internal and external communications, organising, and minuting online and in-person meetings, maintaining financial records and the study webpage, working with researchers to support Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) members, and providing executive support to senior staff.

You should apply if you have:

  • Proven administrative experience, including in diary management and finances
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines
  • An excellent eye for detail and experience in completing tasks requiring high levels of accuracy
  • Strong IT skills, with experience of website maintenance, proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software, e-mail and general office systems
  • Excellent ability to work independently, reliably and efficiently, as well as collaboratively with colleagues and partners across different sectors
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, including with members of the public

This post is available until 31 January 2027, in the first instance.

Although the university has a hybrid working system, the expectation is that the successful applicant appointed to this role will be expected to work more than 50% on campus.
