This role is based at the BGS headquarters in Keyworth, Nottingham

Full-time – 37 hours a week (some flexible working options may be available including a small amount of remote working, although this is primarily a laboratory-based role)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Geochemist.

Key duties / responsibilities will include:

  • To support experimental activities in the BGS ‘Hydrothermal’, and ‘Hydrates and Ices’ laboratories of the Fluid and Rock Processes Laboratory Cluster

  • Assisting the design, build and maintenance of new and existing experimental equipment

Candidates will be qualified to degree level in a relevant subject, with an aptitude for practical activities (eg lab experiments) but other skills such as data handling and modelling would be desirable.

Given BGS’s current and future commitments to externally funded work relevant to Decarbonisation & Resource Management, you will become involved in projects relating to radioactive waste, CCS, geothermal, energy storage, hydrogen storage and unconventional hydrocarbons.

Appropriate training including both internal and external courses will be given to the successful candidate.

Please note – you will be required to have the appropriate level of security screening/vetting required for the role. UKRI reserves the right to run or re-run security clearance as required during your employment.

Please also refer to the additional specific essential and desirable skills criteria for this post.

Applicants are required to include a CV and covering letter outlining their suitability for the role. We would stress the importance of this paperwork in our selection process.

A well thought through application providing evidence and examples of how you meet the advertised essential and desirable criteria for the post will be considered far more favourably than a generic covering letter and CV.

Please apply via the ‘Apply’ button above, if you experience any issues applying for this role, please contact Recruitment@ukri.org.
