Genomic & Environmental Medicine

Job Summary

We are seeking to appoint a Medical Statistician to join the Genomic & Environmental Medicine Section of the NHLI.

The post-holder will develop statistical simulations, scripts and packages to carry out specific aspects of study design and evaluation with a focus on modern statistical modelling methods for complex data, including leverage of observational data for clinical trial design.

The group has a long track record of diverse, impactful research across a range of study designs (including multicentre, international surveys that involve collaborations with low and middle income countries). This role is intended to be programming and methodology intensive.   

Duties and responsibilities

  • You will interact daily with a team of researchers and students involved in a variety of epidemiological and clinical investigation.
  • The projects offer wide scope for methods and statistical approaches.
  • Your duties will include planning and performing supervised research including extensive statistical programming and analysis for contribution to grant applications and publications.

Essential requirements

  • You should hold a first/MSc degree in statistics, biostatistics or epidemiology along with evidence of experience in applied data analysis.
  • You should have formal training in biostatistics or epidemiology.
  • You should be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • You should have prior experience working with complex data in applied health and have curiosity and enthusiasm for learning and applying new statistical methods.
  • You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong knowledge of data analysis and programming processes, and R.

Further Information

This is a full-time, fixed-term on-site position available for 24 months, with potential for extension. You will be based at Brompton Campus.
