About Us
Bournemouth University’s vision is worldwide recognition as a leading university for inspiring learning, advancing knowledge, and enriching society through the fusion of education, research, and practice. Our highly skilled and creative workforce is comprised of individuals drawn from a broad cross-section of the globe, who reflect a variety of backgrounds, talents, perspectives, and experiences that help to build our global learning community.
About the Department
The Department of Nursing Science is growing, and we have an exciting opportunity to join our experienced, friendly, and supportive academic team, committed to high academic standards. The vision of the Department of Nursing Science is to provide high-quality education and research that supports excellence in practice to the benefit of all those who access healthcare, nationally and globally. We prepare nursing students in three fields of nursing at undergraduate level and two at postgraduate level, as well as delivering Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to qualified health professionals.
We are based in a new state of the art building in Bournemouth & Yeovil University Campus in Somerset. We have excellent clinical simulation and skills teaching facilities and a new library.
We are committed to inter-professional and collaborative working in teaching, practice, and research across the Faculty, and this is an exceptional opportunity to join a team committed to enhancing the health and social well-being of people across Dorset and further afield.
About the Role
The role offers the opportunity to work across both undergraduate & postgraduate programmes, providing scope to develop excellence in academic practice.
Our department has a growing team of staff who combine their academic role with clinical practice, and we are keen to engage in clinical-academic development and explore the combination of fractional posts with clinical work, with your existing employer.
We have strong established relationships with our NHS Trust partners, including two University NHS Trusts, and will consider fractional posts where we can establish joint posts with our Trust partners.
We are supporting and investing in research development and its fusion with education and professional practice, committed to developing your academic career. We offer staff development opportunities including the Post-Graduate Certificate in Education and PhD/research options.
About You
As an expert in your field, you will be able to work flexibly across our undergraduate and postgraduate nursing programmes (pre-registration and CPD), where your insight into contemporary practice (clinical or educational), will enhance student experience and learning.
You will have experience in education (from a University or clinical base) and innovation and you will be able to demonstrate contribution to professional practice through engagement & leadership.
You will be a highly motivated individual who brings strength in education & practice, and who is looking to develop or exercise their research expertise.
We are looking for people who share our passion for high quality nursing education and have a strong vision for how the integration of education, practice & research can transform health care.
