About Us 

We are Residential Life; we oversee the Halls of Residence at the University of East London. We manage 1,169 bedrooms for students, casual lettings and summer conferencing guests ensuring all residents have an enjoyable stay with us. We are the first point of contact for all residents and prospective residents. Residential Life comprises of several areas including Marketing and Events, Maintenance & Estates, Welfare, Allocations & Applications and Customer Service. 

About the Job 

The Residential Life and Summer Conferencing Manager will lead the Residential Life team by motivating, inspiring and engaging staff, Residential Life Scholars, and Summer Conferencing agency staff. The Residential Life and Summer Conferencing Manager will provide effective operational management of our Halls of Residence, Summer Conferencing and Residential Life programmes, proactively seeking improvements our student and guest experience in residences.

You will ensure all systems and processes optimise the potential of available resources, maximising income leading our Residential Life team to reach our university’s strategic objectives while providing exemplary customer service.

The main areas of work include: 

  • Leading the development and delivery of new and existing initiatives in the Halls of Residence, related to system development, estates and facility management, wellbeing, disciplinary, customer service and extra-curricular activities.
  • Leading the development of a Summer Conferencing business model to maximise income generation in a sustainable manner providing excellent customer service and communication with key stakeholders. 
  • Working with Estates & Facilities to implement effective operational management and future strategic planning for all areas affecting residents, including their safety, estate development and maintenance.
  • Supporting senior colleagues with the diversification of Residential Life activities and estate, including the Stratford Campus Redevelopment.
  • Liaising with key stakeholders across UEL to deliver a programme of events and experiences, fostering belonging, engagement, and a positive experience for residents.

About You 

We are looking for someone with experience with managing a multi-functional residential service. You must have knowledge and understanding of health and safety and other statutory requirements related to the provision of student residential accommodation. 

You should have experience of managing a summer conferencing programme or similar, and have excellent organisational skills, able to assess key priorities and allocate time and resources appropriately. 

You must have experience reaching objectives and goals and be committed to delivering outstanding customer service to all.  

You will be willing to work weekends and work on campus full time.
