Would you like to be instrumental in the development of medical devices emanating from the University of Cambridge and associated hospitals?

As a Translational Research Programme Manager, you will act as subject area expert in medical devices (especially software and AI as a medical device), digital technologies and diagnostics development. Advising academics and clinicians on the translational pathway, particularly on the regulatory and scientific strategic aspect of product development, but also with respect to the development of funding applications and project management, aligning objectives with budget.

You will be part of a high-performing yet friendly team. The Office for Translational Research (OTR) provides a complete translational project life cycle support and practical support in three major areas:

  • Industrial Partnership development and co-ordination
  • Translating Research
  • Project management

You will work across all three areas to increase the success rate of translational funding and the progression of ideas from research, into the development of new products and approaches to treatment or prevention of human disease and illness.

You will work closely with a range of stakeholders across departments and schools, including not only academics at all levels and the NIHR Cambridge Biomedical Research Centre (BRC), but also the Research Office, governance, the network of knowledge exchange/impact/industry relations professionals across the University, Cambridge Enterprise, etc, to ensure there is seamless support across scientific disciplines.

We are seeking a proactive and solution-focussed individual to take up this senior role in the team. Applicants need to be able to demonstrate a track record of building and maintaining effective working relationships, especially those that cross institutional and cultural boundaries. Applicants will have a post-graduate degree as well as direct experience of project and stakeholder management skills. A strong interest and empathy for medical research and knowledge of medical device development.

The post holder will be an employee of the University of Cambridge's Office for Translational Research and be a member of the School of Clinical Medicine.
