About the Role

SEMS is about to open an MSc Programme in Engineering Management, designed to align with our broad range of programmes of study in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, robotics engineering and materials science.

We are seeking an inspirational educator able to  lead the design and delivery of the MSc Engineering Management. The successful candidate will educate students across the programme in areas related to management of engineering projects, specifically in cost engineering, supply chain management, business strategy or safety and corporate social responsibility in the engineering sector.

We look for either individuals with a strong industrial or engineering professional background, able to expand engineering professional practice (Teaching & Professional Practice – T&PP) or with innovative pedagogical expertise in the delivery of engineering education to a diverse student population at both undergraduate and taught postgraduate levels (Teaching & Scholarship - T&S). Both posts have a substantial involvement in education delivery with 25% allocated time for Scholarship or Professional Practice.

About You

Applicants should have a PhD in a relevant area, and/or equivalent track record in engineering management.

A commitment to high-quality student education is essential, to develop and support our taught programmes, particularly in Engineering Management, as is experience of delivering teaching and assessment at undergraduate or postgraduate levels.

Evidence of pedagogical activity associated with engineering education, or of professional management would be beneficial. A future commitment to such activity is essential.

Applicants require a clear strategy to:

T&PP: Integrate and grow professional engineering practice within the school and augment our industrially focused impact.

T&S: Develop scholarship of teaching and learning in the wide area of engineering education.
