About us

The UCL Cancer Institute is the hub for cancer research at University College London, one of the world's leading universities. The Institute draws together over 400 talented scientists who are working together to translate research discoveries into developing more effective therapies for cancer patients. The UCL Cancer Institute is part of the CRUK City of London Centre, which draws together the expertise present in four leading centres for cancer research, UCL, Barts, KCL and the Francis Crick Institute.Further Information about the UCL Cancer Institute can be found on our website https://www.ucl.ac.uk/cancer/ A position has become available for a post-doctoral research fellow to work in the Regulatory Genomics lab, headed by Professor Richard Jenner. The Regulatory Genomics laboratory uses genomics, bioinformatics, molecular and biochemical techniques to identify how transcription factors, chromatin modifiers and RNA binding proteins regulate cell differentiation and how defects in these processes cause cancer. The lab has particularly focused on the role of polycomb proteins in the maintenance of cell identity (Lee et al., Cell 2006; Kanhere et al., Mol Cell 2010; Beltran et al., Genome Res 2016; Beltran et al., Nat Struct Mol Biol 2019; Hall Hickman & Jenner, Cell Rep 2024). We have recently determined how fusion of the polycomb protein SUZ12 to JAZF1 drives changes in gene expression and cell state in endometrial stromal sarcoma (Tavares et al., 2022).
