The Faculty of Law seeks to appoint a half-time Departmental Lecturer in Taxation during the academic years 2024-2025 and 2025-2026, to meet a shortfall in teaching needs pending a review of the teaching requirements of the programme.  The Departmental Lecturer will be required to undertake teaching and supervision at graduate level in the field of Tax Law, and participate in the broader running of the part-time MSc in Taxation and other taxation courses in the Law Faculty. 

Some of the teaching for the MSc in Taxation compulsory and elective courses take place at weekends and outside Oxford term dates, including the residential programmes in September (to commence in September 2024).  The Departmental Lecturer will be a member of the Taxation teaching and research group, and will report to the Vice Dean of the Law Faculty.  
 
The postholder will be required to give, under the direction of the Board of the Faculty of Law, a maximum of 72 units of lectures, classes or seminars over the academic year, and supervise dissertations.  This will include lecturing and small group teaching to be delivered in-person, online and hybrid, especially on the MSc in Taxation  compulsory and elective courses; to assist with the development of teaching methods, course design, reading lists and course materials; to undertake a reasonable share of relevant Faculty administrative duties, including  pastoral supervision of MSc in Taxation students and formative (practice) assessments of MSc in Taxation students and to examine for the Faculty, especially on the MSc in Taxation.
 
Applicants must have evidence of the ability to undertake high-quality scholarship and research in Taxation Law commensurate with their career experience; the capacity to pursue an independent scholarly and research agenda; hold, or be close to completion of, a postgraduate degree (PhD/DPhil or Masters) with a focus on Taxation Law and have the ability to provide outstanding teaching and supervision to high-achieving students in the taught postgraduate programmes.
 
The post is part time (0.5 FTE) and fixed term until 31 August 2026 and will be based at the Faculty of Law, St Cross Building, St Cross Road, Oxford, OX1 3UL
