This is an exciting opportunity to join the teaching team of the MBChB. Candidates will have clinical experience and have successfully completed Foundation Training within the UK Foundation Programme. The successful candidate will join our team delivering the education to the first two years of the MBChB programme, MBChB Year1 of our new graduate entry medical (GEM) programme, with further opportunities to tutor prescribing and medicines safety teaching for years 3-5 and tutor for our PA Physician Associate Programme.

Teaching fellows will be work for the Division of Medical Education, School of Medical Sciences.  The Division leads the delivery of an innovative undergraduate medical programme (the MBChB) to over 2300 students.  In addition, the Division is home to several successful post-graduate programmes.

You will be based in the Stopford Building and University campus (with some online activities). You will take part in a range of teaching and assessment roles, ideal for developing your CV for future academic job applications. Our 10-month posts provide some ideal time for to seek clinical work on a sessional basis during the summer months if you wish to, as well as have some time to relax after your FY2 year is completed and to recharge prior to the start of clinical work in August 2025. You will work alongside senior academics within our programme, under their supervision and support.

Whilst your primary role will be to support the delivery of teaching activity related to consultation skills teaching and anatomy demonstrating, there will be further opportunities to co-tutor in years 1 & 2 physiology/ pharm teaching, help mentor group portfolio sessions, participate in teaching related Ethics & Law and Behavioral and Social Science, support students in their Personal Excellence Path project, and to tutor year 3-5 students in prescribing and medicines safety as they prepare for their Prescribing Safety Assessment.  As the year progresses, we aim to help each CTF develop areas of interest in teaching available. For example, we envisage that 6 of the CTFs will develop more experience in anatomy demonstration, particularly helpful for those applicants who plan to pursue a career in surgery or pathology. One CTF will provide more focus for prescribing and medicines safety education, including preparation for assessment in this area. 

Whatever your focus, you will take part in a range of teaching and assessment roles, ideal for developing your CV for future academic job applications.  This broad range of educational opportunities will give you a breadth of experience across our programme, with the option to participate in the Advance HE programme to gain accreditation as an Associate Fellow In Higher Education (AFHEA).
