Project details

The School is committed to undertaking initiatives which support under-represented groups to pursue educational and research opportunities across our disciplines. Analysis has shown that small numbers of UK racialised ethnic minority students are undertaking post graduate research degrees within the School.

To address this structural inequality, School-funded studentships have been ring-fenced for UK applicants who identify as being from a Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic background. This is part of our wider work to support underrepresented groups within our disciplines.

Applications are invited for fully funded studentships. The School’s research activity is organised within three themes - Lifestyle for Health & Wellbeing, Sport, Business & Society and Sport Performance. Applicants will be required to look at the research themes and submit a statement (1 paragraph) with a topic idea.

Supervisors

A potential primary supervisor will be identified based on the research topic discussed during the interview stage. Questions can be directed to our Director of Doctoral Programmes, Professor Stacy Clemes.

Entry requirements

Our entry requirements are listed using standard UK undergraduate degree classifications i.e. first-class honours, upper second-class honours and lower second-class honours. To learn the equivalent for your country, please choose it from the drop-down below.

Entry requirements for United Kingdom

Applicants should have achieved at least a 2:1 in their undergraduate degree in a relevant subject. A master’s degree in a relevant subject will be an advantage.
