Department
The University of Essex is one of the top research-intensive universities in the UK. Duties of the Role
The Senior Research Officer will work in physical layer related research to 6G and will lead on research topics with specific focus on space-air-ground integrated networks (SAGIN), particularly on the design of new waveforms. Both traditional and machine learning enabled solutions will be considered. The work will be carried out at the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering.

This is a fixed-term, full-time post March 2025 subject to funding being confirmed.
Skills and qualifications required
A relevant doctoral level degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent professional experience or practice or be close to completion of PhD is essential. The successful candidate will be expected to have the skills and knowledge in the areas of wireless communications and machine learning. Furthermore, they must be able to conduct world-leading research and contribute towards preparation of project proposals. The ability to publish papers in high quality journals and conferences is essential together with strong written and verbal communication skills.
As part of the process and to be successful you will be required to demonstrate how you your research has been impactful within and beyond the academic sphere, recognising the importance of this and the effect it will have on the University.
