ABOUT THE ROLE

We are currently recruiting a new Senior Lecturer in Forensic Psychology.

This person will join the team that delivers our BPS-accredited Stage 1 MSc in Forensic Psychology and will contribute to teaching, research supervision and mentoring for forensic students. The Forensic MSc programme has excellent local and national service connections and this new post is a key component of our plans to increase capacity and further develop our forensic psychology portfolio. We would particularly welcome applications from registered/chartered forensic psychologists seeking to work full or part time within a university setting. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will initially work alongside the programme director with a view to later taking over as the programme lead. We are open to appointing this post at 0.6 or 0.8 FTE to permit work to continue in professional practice.

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual wishing to play an active role in further developing forensic psychology at Swansea University through (once settled in) becoming the programme director for the MSc Forensic Psychology Programme. You will have a keen interest in supporting the development of the next generation of forensic psychologists. You will be a HCPC Registered Forensic Psychologist and will ideally have Chartered Forensic Psychologist status with the BPS. You will have a PhD, professional doctorate or equivalent experience in psychology and a record of research activity with clear potential and plans for growth. You will have relevant experience of teaching and developing others, for example through a previous academic appointment, delivering work based training and/or supporting trainees working towards HCPC registration and/or BPS chartership. We are open to applications from individuals seeking to move into an academic role from a practice setting on a full or part time basis, and welcome application from those with expertise in investigative and criminal justice processes.

ACADEMIC CAREER PATHWAY

The pathway for this post is Research. The Academic Career Pathways (ACP) scheme is designed to ensure that academic strengths whether in research, teaching, the wider student experience, leadership or innovation and engagement, are all appropriately recognised, developed, valued, and rewarded. For further information, please see our ACP webpage.

EQUALITY, DIVERSITY & INCLUSION

The University is committed to supporting and promoting equality and diversity in all its practices and activities. We aim to establish an inclusive environment and welcome diverse applications from the following protected characteristics: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race (including colour, nationality, ethnic and national origin), religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation.

As an inclusive and welcoming workplace, we value people for their skills regardless of their background. Applications are welcome in Welsh and will not be treated less favourably than those submitted in English.
