This is a full time (37 hours per week) role on a fixed term basis until April 2026.

Job Description

This role will facilitate better access between B&NES heritage and cultural assets and the wider community by developing outreach and design sessions with key community and educational partners and supporting partnership delivery in Radstock, Creative Twerton and within our Locksbrook campus.

The postholder will be required to develop and strengthen our current relationships across arts and education in the region, supporting new routes into university for young people and improving graduate outcomes, via training and placements for our students and graduates.

Due to the nature of this post, you will be required to have an Enhanced DBS check.

About the Role

  • To lead on external, non-recruitment focused outreach connected to Culture West.
  • To coordinate Cultural Educational Outreach work with both internal and external partners and contribute to larger University wide projects as part of the Culture West team.
  • To design and/or deliver a variety of workshops, sessions and programmes, both within BSU but also to external cultural partners.
  • To provide advice, guidance and support to BSU staff and students connecting them to our creative and cultural programme and Culture West.
  • To act as the first point of contact for the delivery of our Culture West and Inclusive Community linked outreach programme.
  • To plan, organise and develop a cohesive school and young people’s programme that spans all of our current community outreach work.
  • To contribute to long term cultural planning in the region, acting as an advocate for regional schools and education outreach.
  • To monitor and evaluate outreach programmes, activities and design sessions.
  • To develop and maintain processes, procedures and/or systems within Culture West’s Creative Ecosystem; identifying where changes are needed and making appropriate recommendations.
  • To prepare data and reports for planning, evaluation and monitoring purposes, as required by the Creative and Cultural Development Officer.
  • To attend internal and external meetings associated with the post, as required.
  • To contribute to planning and developing our Culture West education strategy as required.
  • To undertake any other duties required which are within the scope and grade of the post

About You

You will be self-motivated with a strong commitment to working collaboratively and flexibly within a small, busy team with the ability to develop and sustain professional working relationships with university and partnership colleagues, the wider student body, colleges, schools and community groups.  Strong communication skills, an in-depth experience of B&NES cultural and educational sectors and a strong empathy with, and sympathetic approach to young people with SEN needs are essential, as well as creativity and innovation to design and deliver outreach programmes.
