Applications are invited for an appointment as a permanent Lecturer (1.0 FTE, Contract Type B) in Journalism and Media (Global Media) at the University of Galway.
The School of English, Media and Creative Arts comprises the disciplines of English, Drama, Film & Digital Media, Music, and Journalism & Media. Global Media is a growth area for the Discipline of Journalism & Media, which teaches 500 students, including 35 postgraduate students. The Discipline runs BA and MA programmes in Global Media and in Journalism.
For this post, we are seeking a colleague who will contribute to enhancing and developing our School’s vibrant profile in the area of Global Media. Specialisms may include: media ethics, hybridity and media of the periphery, media and social justice, data analytics, identity and representation, visual communication theory, AI and media practice, environment and sustainability. Applicants are invited to demonstrate how they would enhance teaching and mentorship on our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Global Media, and how they would develop an innovative research, or practice-based research, agenda through their own ongoing work. Additional ability to contribute to Journalism programmes may be an advantage.
Candidates should have strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively engage with students, colleagues, and industry professionals.

€ 61,147 to € 97,548 p.a (applicable to new entrants effective from January, 2011)
