Senior Wellbeing Practitioner

Arts University Bournemouth

About us

Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) is a globally leading independent arts, design, performance and media university.   At AUB we nurture creativity, engage communities, collaborate with industry and make a difference.

Our commitment to EDI

Our core commitment to diversity, inclusion and a sustainable future truly values the diversity of our students and staff, creating an inclusive environment where everyone’s identities and talents are valued and respected.  We welcome applications from all areas of the community and particularly encourage applications from people from ethnic minority backgrounds and people who are disabled, who are currently underrepresented in our workforce.

About the role

This is a key role within Student Services, providing timely, specialist advice and support to students with mental health difficulties, and promoting the general health and wellbeing of all students. The primary function of the Wellbeing Service is running a daily drop-in service that is available to all AUB students.

We are looking for an experienced and skilled practitioner with an in-depth understanding of assessing individuals and managing the risk of students presenting with a range of mental health needs. You will have an ability to respond safely and appropriately to individuals experiencing complex mental health crises.

You will autonomously manage a specialist caseload working closely with colleagues to take responsibility for identifying and supporting students who may be deemed vulnerable.

We are seeking a resilient and motivated individual with experience of working with vulnerable individuals within a fast-paced environment. You will be joining a friendly and supportive team who work pro-actively to promote inclusion and ensure that best practice in supporting students is embedded across the University.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level and will hold a relevant specialist qualification, as well as demonstrate a good understanding of mental health and wellbeing, ideally within a higher education context.

This position involves working with children (under-18s) / vulnerable people and therefore requires compliance with the University’s Safeguarding Policies, including the requirement for enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service clearance prior to the commencement of employment.  The University is committed to stringent Safeguarding practices, including in its practices around the recruitment and selection of staff, to positions which involve working with children and/or vulnerable people.  The successful candidate will be required to complete AUB approved Safeguarding Training.

Our benefits

In meeting your performance expectations, each year you’ll have a salary increase in line with the grade of your role. As well as this there is an annual cost of living increase.  AUB provides generous holiday entitlement, and you will be enrolled in the Local Government Pension Scheme (professional services staff) or the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (academic staff) from day one of employment.  Along with subsidised bus travel, cycle to work and annual savings schemes, our broad range of benefits can be explored on the AUB careers website.

AUB has an agile working policy, and flexible working can be considered.  If you require support with your application or have any questions about the role or recruitment process, please email us. If you are disabled, we are committed to supporting you with any reasonable adjustments you require, so please email us and we’ll be in touch.
