Objective of this post:            

The principal objective of the post is to lead and participate in the development, direction, teaching, facilitation and examining of the Medical Professionalism Education Programmes at RCSI. The successful candidate will assist in the development and delivery of a Postgraduate Diploma/Masters Programme in Professionalism. RCSI is seeking a professional who is passionate about teaching, would like to experience working as an academic in a multicultural environment, who demonstrates initiative, openness and resilience. The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative and excellent organisation and communication skills.

The post- holder, will be based in the Centre for Professionalism in Medicine and Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, and will develop, teach and help coordinate Medical Professionalism teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The successful candidate will also contribute to research-related projects and initiatives and the supervision of Doctoral Research Students on MD and PhD Programmes. 

Specific Responsibilities include:

  • Participating in the design, administration and delivery of educational activities and programmes related to an online Postgraduate Diploma/Masters Programme in Professionalism.
  • Contribute to teaching and education in ‘Medical Professionalism’ for undergraduate students.
  • Contribute to research with resultant publications in journals of high quality/impact
  • Fostering industry-academia interactions leading to commercialization of research findings
  • Contributing to the development and introduction of new teaching programmes, teaching modalities and modes of assessment
  • Liaising with colleagues across RCSI international campuses in facilitation of research and teaching activities
  • Undergoing programmes of training and development as may be required
  • Undertaking overseas assignments as may be required from time to time
  • Supervising undergraduate students and postgraduate students at Masters and PhD level
  • Participating in the development of RCSI’s teaching and learning strategy including the effective use of technology-enhanced learning
  • Contributing to quality assurance/quality improvement and accreditation of existing modules
  • Performing such other related duties as may be required
  • Representing the best interests of the Department and RCSI at all times
