Do you have a proven ability to carry out teaching and research at the intersection of diet, health, cognition and behaviour?

The School of Food Science and Nutrition is the oldest such university department in the UK, and is continuing to grow its staff numbers, expanding its academic capability in nutritional science, with the aim of providing mechanistic evidence of the role of food components and diets on health and well-being. We are seeking to appoint a lecturer in the area of diet and nutrition with an interest in health promotion and nutrition-related approaches to deliver excellent research and inspirational teaching and supervision, and invite applications from outstanding academics of high potential who are able to demonstrate a growing track record in research, student education and academic leadership. 

As a Lecturer, you will carry out research and teaching and will contribute to academic leadership in the field of diet and nutrition. Your emphasis will be on health promotion and its applications to individual and community health with a focus on multicultural and equality aspects. The perspectives of individual, community and population nutrition-related interventions/approaches for health promotion will be key themes. You will develop collaborative research with members of the Nutritional Sciences and Epidemiology research group and other groups in the school, University and nationally and internationally to propose evidence-based solutions for improving health.

With a vision and drive to develop a prestigious internationally competitive research portfolio as well as a passion for undertaking research-led teaching you will make a significant impact to the performance, stature and profile of research and student education at the University of Leeds.  You will have a PhD in a relevant field, and a proven record of both research outputs and teaching in a university environment.
