Stipendiary Lecturership in Computer Science

Christ Church invites applications for a fixed-term Stipendiary Lecturership in theoretical Computer Science.

This is a temporary, fixed-term position to fulfil the college teaching need in expectation of a new Tutorial Fellow in Computer Science being appointed for the 2027 to 2028 academic year. Therefore, the appointment carries with it no expectation of permanent employment at Christ Church.

The successful candidate will deliver six weighted hours of teaching per week, averaged over the three eight-week terms of each academic year. The ideal candidate is expected to hold a doctorate, or at least a substantial part of one complete, in Computer Science or a closely related field. They will also be able to show evidence of the skills for successful tutorial teaching, including the ability to explain problems and ideas lucidly, listen to students’ questions and views sympathetically, and enthuse and inspire them.

The post is offered on a fixed-term temporary basis with a salary on the scale of £15,244 to £16,983 (current rates) per annum, according to qualifications and experience.
