Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Fixed-Term/Contract

The University of Worcester is a high achieving, award-winning, dynamic institution set within an inclusive and engaged community. The number one University in England for gender equality, according to the last three years of the Times Higher Education’s University Impact Rankings, with multiple accolades for teaching quality, inclusion, contribution to the community, and environmental sustainability, the University has been shortlisted as Times Higher Education University of the Year three times in recent years.

One of the best Universities for health education, Worcester has founded the distinctive Three Counties Medical School aiming to widen access to careers in medicine and retain graduates in the local area. The School’s MBChB curriculum emphasises problem-based learning (PBL), early patient contact, programmatic assessment, and an emphasis on community-orientated clinical placements at every stage.

We now wish to appoint Clinical Teaching Fellows (CTFs) to support the on-going delivery of the curriculum across years 1 and 2 (Phase 1) to medical students on the graduate entry MBChB programme. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the team as the Medical School, which opened to students in September 2023, enters its next phase of development.

Applications are invited for 2 whole time equivalent Clinical Teaching Fellows in Anatomy, Physiology and Clinical Skills. These are career development posts at FY2/ST1-2 level to facilitate the learning of the next generation of doctors. These posts are focused on active learning and practical application of anatomy, physiology and clinical skills. You will receive training in facilitating learning from a team of enthusiastic clinicians and teachers and will have opportunities for your own professional development, including support with gaining a teaching qualification.

Applicants will have a keen interest in medical education and training, will be required to be registered with the GMC with a licence to practise, and will have proven clinical experience after graduation from medical school.

Applications from individuals wishing to work less than full time are welcomed, and applicants currently working in less than full time clinical roles are invited to apply to these posts alongside their clinical work. The Medical School has close relationships with local NHS primary and secondary care providers, and we can support you in seeking clinical opportunities alongside academic commitments.

The posts are based at the University of Worcester in our new state of the art medical school on the Severn campus. It will be fixed term appointment for 12 months for academic year 2024/25 with an expected start date of August 2024, with a possible extension for a second 12-month period.

If you are interested in joining us at this exciting time and would relish the challenge of playing a part in the future development of the Three Counties Medical School as we train the next generation of doctors, we welcome your application.
