Associate Lecturer (Teaching) in Climate Change

UCL Geography spans a broad range of Human and Physical Geography and we are committed to cross-disciplinary teaching and research. The department (https://www.ucl.ac.uk/geography/) is widely recognised as one of the leading geography departments in the world (7th worldwide in the QS Ranking 2024, 4th in the Shanghai world rankings 2022). It has been highly rated in all seven UK Research Assessment Exercises, and the 2021 REF confirmed that 96% of the Department’s research activity is considered World Leading (4*) or Internationally Excellent (3*).

We are seeking to appoint a 19-month fixed term Associate Lecturer (Teaching) in Climate Change at 0.5FTE from 1st January 2025. The salary range for this position is Grade 7, SP 33-37: £45,521 - £50,585 per annum (including London Allowance).

The position will support geography teaching and tutorial delivery ac ross the Department, with a focus on climate change and physical geography. The Department encourages applications from from physical geographers, environmental scientists or geoscientist who additionally can undertake tutorial support across our 1st year curriculum. The role also has an allocation of time for research and professional development.

Candidates must hold a PhD in a relevant discipline by the time they begin their appointment. Applicants must demonstrate expertise in the areas to be taught, with an aptitude for teaching and developing Geography modules at both undergraduate and graduate levels and be committed to fostering a positive learning environment for students. Excellent presentation and teaching communication skills, along with the ability to work collaboratively and to deadlines is essential.
