ABOUT THE ROLE

This post is externally funded to support research and development on a UKRI (UK Research and Innovation)-funded Responsible AI UK Keystone project, “PROBabLE Futures - Probabilistic AI Systems in Law Enforcement Futures’”. The primary role of this position is to manage the schedule, project plan, deliverables, risks, finances, workload, contracts and purchasing, logistics and reporting for the PROBabLE Futures project.

The candidate will work in the Department of Law within the leadership and management team of the PROBabLE Futures Keystone Project. The project involves working alongside our law enforcement, third sector and commercial partners, will develop a framework to understand the implications of uncertainty and to build confidence in future Probabilistic AI in law enforcement, with the interests of justice and responsibility at its heart. The project is a UKRI-funded Responsible AI UK Keystone project and includes academic Co-Is in a number of disciplines, law enforcement and commercial partners. The overall aim of the role is to lead the project management of both the consortium and project level and the teams at work-package level. The post holder will be responsible for working with the funder, project partners and project staff to deliver the project on time, within budget, and in accordance with the project plan and specified deliverables. This will entail managing the schedule, risks, finances, workload, tendering/contracts and purchasing, logistics and reporting to the UKRI for the project.

Please note this is a fixed term and part-time position working at 0.8 FTE due to finish on 31 March 2028. We are happy to consider job-shares for this role.

ABOUT YOU

We are seeking candidates with experience and skills relating to project management, ideally of complex interdisciplinary academic research projects involving multiple parties. Therefore, a qualification in professional project management is essential. It is essential that the post holder have strong interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), person management and time management skills. Interest and/or knowledge of AI and/or law enforcement is desirable to allow smooth interaction with the team.
