Main duties and responsibilities
You will participate in teaching, assessment and module management on the BA Education and other relevant programmes, including the development of new offer. You will participate, as required, in the development and review of the programmes and enhance the school’s wide range of co-curricular, fieldwork, and outreach activities. You will oversee the monitoring of student progress and provide advice and guidance to personal tutors and students as appropriate. You will be encouraged to develop research skills appropriate to the area of education. In addition to this, you will contribute to the ongoing evaluation and review of the Schools’ activities. You will also contribute to the administration of the Schools by undertaking additional roles, such as being a module lead and joining or leading teams involved in activities such as recruitment, admissions, timetabling or programme support.
You will work co-operatively and supportively as part of the Schools’ teaching team, including off-campus student outreach and other recruitment activities such as open days where required. You will also work closely with the Associate Deans, Head of Department, and Programme Leaders in order to continue the development of the Schools’ teaching and learning initiatives and ensure the currency and innovative nature of the curriculum.
Skills and experience required
You will have teaching experience at primary, secondary, or tertiary level in Education, experience of teaching at postgraduate level would be an advantage. You will also have experience of designing or contributing to the design of engaging and intellectually stimulating modules which have professional relevance. Ideally you would also be able to offer experience of teaching in other areas of education.
You will have an ability to use technology to enhance the quality and flexibility of delivery to students and support own workload. Proficiency in English language is critical, with good self-management and time management skills and excellent written and oral communication skills. An enthusiastic approach towards work and the work of the Schools within a business-facing University, and a commitment to the ongoing development of teaching and learning skills will be evident from your application.
Qualifications required
A minimum of a Postgraduate degree at Masters, or equivalent. Undertaking or having completed a doctorate or a Fellowship of Advance HE (Higher Education) would be advantageous.
