Birmingham City University is a large and diverse place to study and work right in the heart of the city and we are currently looking for an Administrative Assistant who will be based at our City Centre Campus working within the University's UKVI Compliance Team.
The UKVI Compliance Team is looking to recruit an Admin Administrator to support a wide range of administrative tasks within our small but busy team. If you’re customer-focused, quality-driven and keen to follow a professional career within administration – with clearly defined career paths and opportunities – there’s never been a better time to join us. You will report directly to the Head of UKVI Compliance and work closely with the other UKVI Compliance Officers, as well as staff across the University.
You will be providing a range of proactive administrative support within the UKVI Compliance Team on a daily basis. No two days will be the same, as you turn your hand to anything from enrolling international students, conducting Right to Study checks and answering email queries to liaising with staff across a range of central and faculty based departments. You'll be expected to work on your own initiative, to maintain high standards of administration and resolve issues in a swift, calm manner.
You will be educated to degree level (or equivalent experience) coupled with proven administrative, IT and customer service experience within a complex environment. You will need to have excellent IT skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). And whilst it's not essential, any experience of UKVI compliance administration and dealing with international students is desirable. Additionally, as important, is your willingness to learn and apply yourself, your drive to deliver superb customer service to stakeholders across the University and your exceptional communication skills. Beyond that, your ability to act as a team player, demonstrate intellectual curiosity, to manage your workload and your excellent interpersonal and communication skills will be what sets you apart.
Further details:
The appointed candidate will normally be employed through our subsidiary company BCU Support Services Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Birmingham City University. Appointees with prior LGPS membership who wish to enter the LGPS scheme will be able to do so, and will be employed by Birmingham City University directly.
