The project is sponsored by the Independent Research Fund Denmark through the project “Advanced Phase-Field Models for Corrosion Fatigue”, and it is headed by Professor Christian Niordson.
Responsibilities and qualifications
The PhD student shall perform research within the development of a multi-physics modelling framework for fatigue damage in corrosive environments. The overarching aim of the project is to (1) couple phase field corrosion models with mechanics, (2) combine phase field fracture and corrosion formalisms, (3) incorporate the role of the material microstructure, (4) resolve the electro-chemo-mechanical nature of the problem, and (v) validate with experiments carried out by other project partners. The project is based on a close collaboration with other national and international academic partners as well as industrial partners, and the PhD student must contribute to tying project activities together.
