Applications are invited for the position of Product Design Specialist.
This role is funded through the C&IoS Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF), Investment Priority: Supporting Local Business.
Led by University of Plymouth, (Success Through Research, Innovation and Development Excellence) STRIDE is a high impact, bespoke RD&I project that is designed to support innovative businesses in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. With the aim of taking businesses from idea development through to prototyping and commercialisation, this position supports new product design and requires experience of designing engineering products from concept.
To be successful in this role, you should have an understanding of technology, materials and manufacturing methods. You must have expertise in designing engineering products from concept using computer-aided design tools and a broad knowledge of related manufacturing techniques. Experience of computational analysis techniques and physical prototype testing would be advantageous.
You will be working closely with colleagues, businesses, technicians and academics so excellent communication skills are necessary.
This is a part-time role with flexibility to work from the Pool Innovation Centre or the University of Plymouth Campus. Working 22.5 hours per week, the position is fixed-term until 31st March 2025 and benefits from 25 days holiday pro rata plus bank holidays.
