The opportunity

Cardiff School of Sport and Health Sciences (CSSHS) seeks to appoint a Laboratory Manager in Physiology and Health. The post holder will facilitate the support of high-quality teaching and learning, research and innovation activity across our suite of physiology laboratories. Applicants with experience of developing and supporting exercise prescription for patient groups are particularly welcome, as outlined in the Clinical Exercise Physiology UK Standards. Duties include: 

  1. Undertake operational management of the laboratories through the day-to-day line management of the technical staff.
  2. Ensure effective communication between teaching, research and technical support staff in relation to laboratory and shared spaces.
  3. Maintain interdisciplinary working and communication between technical staff across the campuses to promote efficient and effective use of equipment and staffing resources.
  4. Oversee and identify training needs for staff and research students working in the laboratories; instruct, supervise and manage the technical team to undertake and conduct agreed experimental practices.
  5. Provide academic supervision of undergraduate and / or postgraduate taught and research students.

What we are looking for

We are looking with someone with a passion for exercise and cardiovascular physiology. The individual should have a proven track record of managing projects to completion and show the aptitude to manage budgets and lead laboratory teams. They should have knowledge of statutory Health & Safety requirements and experience managing the health and safety of a laboratory working with high-risk populations and processes (e.g. clinical cohorts).

Y cyfle

Mae YChGIC yn chwilio i nenodi Rheolwr Labordy mewn Ffisioleg ac Iechyd. Bydd deiliad y swydd yn hwyluso cymorth addysgu a dysgu o ansawdd uchel, a gweithgarwch ymchwil ac arloesi ar draws ein cyfres o labordai ffisioleg. Mae croeso arbennig i ymgeiswyr sydd â phrofiad o ddatblygu a chefnogi presgripsiwn ymarfer corff ar gyfer grwpiau cleifion, fel yr amlinellir yn Safonau Clinical Exercise Physiology UK.  Mae’r dyletswyddau’n cynnwys:

  1. Ymgymryd â rheolaeth weithredol y labordai trwy weithredu fel rheolwr llinell o ddydd i ddydd i’r staff technegol.
  2. Sicrhau cyfathrebu effeithiol rhwng staff addysgu, ymchwil a chymorth technegol mewn perthynas â gofodau labordy a mannau a rennir.
  3. Cynnal gwaith rhyngddisgyblaethol a chyfathrebu rhwng staff technegol ar draws y campysau i hyrwyddo defnydd effeithlon ac effeithiol o offer ac adnoddau staffio.
  4. Goruchwylio a nodi anghenion hyfforddi staff a myfyrwyr ymchwil sy'n gweithio yn y labordai; cyfarwyddo, goruchwylio a rheoli'r tîm technegol i gynnal a chynnal arferion arbrofol y cytunwyd arnynt.
  5. Darparu goruchwyliaeth academaidd o fyfyrwyr israddedig a/neu ôl-raddedig a addysgir a myfyrwyr ymchwil.

Beth rydym yn chwilio amdano
