UCL - UK Dementia Research Institute

Location: London
Salary: £51,474 to £60,521
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Placed On: 23rd May 2024

Job Ref: B02-06986

About us

The UK Dementia Research Institute (UK DRI) is a globally leading multidisciplinary research institute of over 900 staff investigating the spectrum of neurodegenerative disorders causing dementia, driving a step change in our understanding of neurodegeneration, and accelerating the discovery, development and delivery of interventions that will help diagnose, treat, and ultimately prevent dementia.

About the role

We are looking for a scientifically trained, well-organised professional to oversee the Institute's new early career researcher (ECR) career development strategy and contribute to the development and coordination of UK DRI intramural funding opportunities.

The role is available immediately and funded by UK DRI Ltd until 31 March 2028 in the first instance, with likely extension dependent on successful quinquennial review.

The UK DRI Central Team is currently an Institute within the Faculty of Brain Sciences at University College London (UCL); over the past few months, UK DRI Ltd has entered into discussion with UCL about taking on the direct employment of most UK DRI Central Team including the role you have applied for.

UK DRI Ltd is still exploring the proposals for change and engaging into meaningful conversations with the UK DRI Central Team. If the proposals and changes are implemented, a TUPE transfer of the team will take place at an agreed future date. The role that you have applied for is a new post and therefore should the TUPE transfer take place, the successful candidate will be employed on a UK DRI contract of employment and offered pay and terms and conditions as established by UK DRI Ltd. As a member of the UK DRI Central Team you will be based across UCL and/or any one of our six UK DRI partner Universities.

UK DRI Ltd will offer a competitive pay and terms and conditions framework and this does not change the salary package as stated in this advert.

This role is eligible for hybrid working.

If you need reasonable adjustments or a more accessible format to apply for this job online, or have any queries regarding the application process, please contact the Institute of Neurology HR Team.

Interviews are expected to take place on 24 June 2024.

About you

You’ll have a PhD in neuroscience, biomedical sciences, or a related area, experience of planning and managing multi-stakeholder projects, and familiarity with the national and international research grant funding landscape.

This role meets the eligibility requirements for a skilled worker certificate of sponsorship or a global talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL welcomes applications from international applicants who require a visa.
