Job Summary

Applications are invited for a 3-year research technician within the Drug Transport and Tumour Metabolism Group at the Institute of Clinical Sciences (Imperial College)/ MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences (LMS). This position is funded by a Career Establishment Award to Dr Louise Fets from Cancer Research UK. We are looking for an enthusiastic and curious individual with excellent organisational skills and a high attention to detail to join our team. In addition to lab management duties, the successful candidate will work on a project to understand the role of membrane transporters in drug uptake, response and resistance. 

We are located on the Hammersmith Hospital Campus in West London (W12). The Institute has first-class facilities and provides investigators from clinical and basic science backgrounds with the opportunity to pursue innovative, multidisciplinary research within the excellence of Imperial College. Additionally, both LMS and Imperial College are signatories of The Technician Commitment (https://www.techniciancommitment.org.uk/). 

The successful candidate will be immersed in an integrative research environment with opportunities to work with other scientists from facilities within the institute. The candidate will also be exposed to the other work carried out by other groups within the LMS/ICS via frequent lectures. 

Duties and responsibilities

  • The main responsibility of the post-holder will be to support the research programme by providing a high standard of technical expertise and day-to-day co-ordination, running and maintenance of the laboratory.

Essential requirements include

  • The successful applicant must hold a BSc (or equivalent) in the biological sciences. A Masters degree is desirable but not essential.
  • Applicants must have experience and an understanding of cell and molecular biology techniques, including cell culture, western blotting and cloning, and experience in CRISPR techniques is desirable.
  • Knowledge of, and an interest in, metabolism, pharmacology, and/or mass spectrometry approaches would be advantageous.
