Dance at Bath Spa is renowned for its creative approach to training, and you will be joining a thriving area that offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. (This is a part time 0.5 position)
About the Role
Our courses are both physically and intellectually stimulating, and our graduates emerge as confident and versatile dance artists who are ready to use their skills in a diverse range of scenarios. This new role is central in helping to achieve this. As our Teaching Fellow in Dance you will be teaching within established programs through lectures, seminars, practicals, workshops, and tutorials, both in-person and online. Your responsibilities will include supporting undergraduate students, marking assessments, attending examination meetings, and handling administrative duties in line with departmental procedures. The position also requires contributing to syllabus planning and curriculum development, maintaining subject expertise, and ensuring health and safety in the workplace. Additionally, the role involves participating in recruitment and promotional activities to advance the interests of the School and University.
About You
You will be an excellent teacher with strong practical skills and a student-centred approach to learning. You will be able to support the technical and creative progression of a range of learners and be passionate about supporting their health and wellbeing. Ideally you will have knowledge and skills in at least three of the following four areas: Somatic practices, Dance science, Health and wellbeing for dancers and Codifed/non-codified movement techniques. You will take an evidence-based approach to supporting best practice in safe dance training and will have experience of being able to work collaboratively with a team and thrive working in a creative environment that has a vibrant, artistic community.
