Description
The Chaplaincy Department at the University of Chester has an exciting opportunity to join our experienced Chaplaincy team, as an Assistant Hindu Chaplain for 9 hours a week. It is essential for this role that you have an active Hindu faith and a good knowledge of Hinduism. The Assistant Hindu Chaplain postholder would be particularly involved with support students from a Hindu background, helping to lead cultural and religious activities and events that foster a sense of belonging and community.
The postholder will be joining an experienced and supportive team, led by our Senior Chaplain and with other part-time Chaplains from various faith backgrounds. You do not need to have previous Chaplaincy experience, but we are looking for someone with excellent communication skills and a creative individual who has experience in supporting community, cultural and/or faith events and activities. Please note this role is based in Chester and an essential job requirement is for the postholder to be in person weekly. Our multi-faith Chaplaincy team is based on the Exton Park campus in Chester and this role would involve working across multiple sites in Chester.
Chaplaincy works in a highly collaborative way, connecting closely with Professional Services colleagues and academic departments to enhance the student experience across the University. Chaplaincy is focussed on three key strategic areas: enabling pastoral care and support of students and staff, nurturing spiritual wellbeing of people of all faiths and none, and fostering creative communities. The creative initiatives are constantly emerging but some key projects are our food growing Community Garden at Exton Park and a Community Kitchen project that encourages students to cook and eating together and to enjoy cultural and religious celebrations.
If you have any queries about the role then please do get in touch with Revd Dr. Gill Reeve (Senior Chaplain), email g.reeve@chester.ac.uk.
Interview date: Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview on Monday 17th June
