This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest departments within the University of Oxford and one of the leading Physics departments in the world.
We are looking for an IT Support Officer to provide 1st line support to the users including the use of Windows desktop computers, laptops and other mobile devices. Support will include responding to user help tickets, staffing the IT Office and the configuration and maintenance of the hardware and software. Installation, setup and delivery of new desktop systems and services. This will include the loading of `cloned` systems, a procedure which is a key element in reducing the IT support time across the department. There will be opportunities to learn about the other Operating Systems used in the department. The post holder will be expected to become familiar with the basic operation of the departmental network so that diagnostics and basic repairs can be performed.
This post is permanent and full time.

The successful candidate will need to have extensive experience with Microsoft Windows Operating Systems. Excellent communication skills and experience of user support on a wide range of operating systems and applications. Willingness and ability to understand new technologies and to use appropriately. Windows systems administrations experience, knowledge of macOS and or Linux derivatives and experience in working in an academic environment would be desired but not essential.
A minimum of a BTEC, degree or equivalent relevant practical equivalent.
